- Where is The Virginian located?
- The Virginian is in Bristol, Virginia, at 22284 Clubhouse Ridge, Bristol, VA 24202, in the Virginia Highlands near the Virginia and Tennessee state line. It is a short drive from Interstate 81 and roughly thirty minutes from Tri-Cities Airport (TRI), which serves Bristol, Kingsport, and Johnson City.
- Is The Virginian a private club?
- Yes. The Virginian is a private, gated club and community, and access to the golf course, clubhouse, and amenities is limited to members and their accompanied guests. Prospective members and event clients are welcome to arrange a visit through the club.

- The Virginian was established in 1993 in Bristol, Virginia. The Tom Fazio golf course and the residential community were developed together, which is why the holes run through the property rather than between rows of houses.
Membership
- What membership categories does The Virginian offer?
- The Virginian offers six categories: Full Club, National, Sport, Social, Individual Golf, and Corporate. Full Club carries complete golf, dining, and amenity privileges; Sport includes six rounds of golf per year plus full amenity access; Social covers dining, events, and the pool; National is for members living more than 75 miles away; and Corporate covers up to five users.
- How much does membership at The Virginian cost?
- Initiation fees and monthly dues vary by membership category and are shared privately by the membership office. Contact the club and we will walk you through the current schedule for the category that fits how you would actually use the property.
- Is there a waiting list, and how do I join?
- Membership is limited and offered by invitation following a visit and an application reviewed by the club. The usual path is a tour of the course and clubhouse, a conversation about which category suits you, and then the application; start by sending an inquiry through the contact page.
- What is a National Membership?
- National Membership is for members whose primary residence is more than 75 miles from the club. It carries full gate access, dining and clubhouse access, full golf privileges of up to two tee times per day, and use of the Swim, Racquet & Fitness Center.
- Is there a membership option for younger members?
- Yes. Junior tiers are available for members under 40 in the Full, Sport, Social, and Individual Golf categories, and the Young Executive program is designed for younger professionals joining the club earlier in their careers.
- Can members bring guests?
- Yes. Members may host accompanied guests under club policy, and guest privileges vary by membership category. The golf shop can arrange tee times for members hosting guests.
Golf
- Who designed the golf course at The Virginian?
- Tom Fazio designed the golf course at The Virginian. The property has 21 Fazio holes in total: the 18-hole championship course plus a three-hole practice course.
- How long is the course and how does it play?
- The championship course plays 7,025 yards from the back tees. Fairways are zoysia, greens are Pennlinks bent, and multiple tee sets let the course play comfortably for every handicap.
- Can the public play The Virginian?
- No. The Virginian is a private club, and play is reserved for members and their accompanied guests. Visiting golfers are typically hosted by a member or play as part of a club-sanctioned tournament or outing.
- What practice facilities are available?
- The practice facility includes a double-ended driving range, a 12,000 square foot putting green, short-game areas, and a three-hole practice course. Club fittings and instruction are available through the Golf Shop.
- Are carts required, and is walking allowed?
- Both are accommodated under club policy, and the Golf Shop can confirm cart and caddie arrangements for the day you plan to play.

- What amenities does the club have besides golf?
- Beyond golf, The Virginian has a full-service clubhouse with member dining, a Swim, Racquet & Fitness Center, indoor and outdoor tennis, pickleball courts, a pool, and men's and women's locker rooms. Club events run through the calendar year.
- Does The Virginian have tennis and pickleball?
- Yes. The club has outdoor courts, a dedicated indoor racquet facility for year-round play, and pickleball courts, all part of the Swim, Racquet & Fitness Center.
- Is there a dress code?
- Yes. The Virginian maintains traditional country club standards for the golf course, clubhouse, and dining rooms, which vary by venue and time of day. The clubhouse staff will confirm the current expectations before your visit.

- Can I host a wedding at The Virginian?
- Yes. The Virginian hosts weddings and receptions in multiple indoor and outdoor venues across its 1,500+ acre property, with in-house catering, event design, A/V, and staffing handled by the club's events team.
- Do you host corporate events and golf outings?

- Do you offer off-site catering?
- Yes. The culinary team caters on-site and off, building menus and pairings around the venue, the guest count, and any dietary requirements.
Visiting & Real Estate
- How do I get to The Virginian?
- Program the North Security Gate at 15325 Majestic Drive, Bristol, VA 24202 first, then the Clubhouse at 22512 Clubhouse Ridge Road. Entering the clubhouse address alone routes you to a gate you cannot enter through. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 81, and Tri-Cities Airport (TRI) is about thirty minutes away.
- Do I need to let the club know before visiting?
- Yes. Let the club know your date in advance so we can notify the gate and have someone meet you at the clubhouse. Send a note through the contact page with your date and the reason for your visit.
- Can I buy a home at The Virginian?
- Yes. The Virginian is a residential community with homes and homesites inside the gates, ranging from golf-course frontage to wooded and long-view parcels. Club membership and home ownership are handled separately; the membership office can explain how the two fit together.
